As many of you may know, I’m Black. I’m Black and I’m proud and I want to help create a permanent change. Our country is in shambles and white people are losing their shit. But this is the America Black people have always known. Only now we are demanding that justice finally be served by any means necessary.
Last week I began to brainstorm ways to actively hold brands and businesses I spend my Black dollars at accountable. I decided to check their social media pages to see who had released statements supporting Black lives and issues. There weren’t a lot so I reached out to the ones who remained silent.
We must continue to hold them accountable beyond a statement or a picture. They need to actively amplify Black voices and creatives to help put money back in our pockets. Unfortunately a lot of these businesses don’t know what actions to put into place for this to happen.
That prompted me to create my guide for How to Stand in Solidarity. It’s an overview of how businesses can connect with the Black community and their customer base to begin making the necessary changes for a better tomorrow. Change won’t happen overnight. And while this seems like a small act every little bit help. We must all continue to do the work.
