What’s up y’all? I’m finally back with another blog post AND I decided to bring back my #3For3 series where I collab with another creative to list our 3 favorite whatever. Today the homie Marc West is helping me put y’all on to some new brews. Well mostly he is but y’all catch my drift.
Marc’s Picks
I’d like to think that I’ve consumed most beer styles. I’ve scaled back a bit from heavy ABV beers and gone back to the starting point. I’ve been around the world and back, mentally lol, but my 3 favorite beers are going to be very simple.
Kaizen – Equal Part Brewing – Japanese Rice Lager
This is a crisp, clean, & easy drinker. Something you can drink all day and keep going without slowing down. If you ever get to try this on slow pour it definitely magnifies those taste buds.
Cryonaut – True Anomaly Brewing – Cold IPA
I work here, so I may or may not be drinking the Kool-aid! I’m becoming a bit more partial or biased to drinking beer you can see through. This is definitely a nice crispy boy. A little higher in abv than a lager and more bitter than a hazy. Add some dinner with this beer and you have the perfect combination.
Ghost In The Machine – Parish Brewing – Hazy IPA
It’s a classic. Not much to say here because this beer has spoken volumes for years in this category. There will always be talk of DDH, Holy Ghost, Infinite ghost, etc etc. I just prefer to go with the OG version and put all talk to rest. One of the best made hazy IPAs in my book. Goes well with anything, anytime, anywhere!
Brit’s Picks
Dallas Blonde – Deep Ellum Brewing – American Blonde Ale
I’m not a really big beer drinker but I do dabble a little bit. And when I do you know I gotta support a Texas-based brewery. Since it’s an ale it’s light so you can drink it at any time of day or all day if you wish. It’s the perfect poolside companion for the summer.
Blue Moon – Blue Moon Brewery – Belgian-Style Wheat Ale
I first started drinking this beer in Houston with my bestie from college. I can’t remember the name of the restaurant but they used to make beeritas with Blue Moon if I’m not mistaken. I’d honestly suggest just drinking it on its own though with a little squeeze of an orange slice because why were we drinking beer in a margarita?!?
ACE Perry – ACE Cider – Californian Cider
This cider is perfect for special occasion sipping when you don’t want quite the buzz. I first discovered this bad boy in my college days in Austin. The club was Red Fez & Sunday nights just haven’t been the same without it. Buy you a 6-pack & turn on your favorite playlist & it’ll take you right back to the good ol’ days, whenever that is for you LOL!
Both Houston & Denver are known for their craft beer & brewery scene. Let us know what your favorite beers & breweries are & be sure to follow Marc West on IG at @craftbeerandbeats to catch him at an event!
