The Great Migration To Spill

I was randomly scrolling Twitter Sunday night I believe & I saw a code for a new app called Spill. I’d already seen a few folks on my timeline talking about it but I wasn’t that intrigued…yet. I figured the code wouldn’t work but to my surprise it did. Now to decide if I want to give it my all & learn a new platform or is this another new shiny app that I’ll never open again like Clubhouse?

That first day or so of joining Spill I thought it was only for Black folks but then I learned that they’re welcoming everyone so it lost a bit of it’s charm for me. I know there’s no way to fully have an exclusively all-Black app (because there’ll always be some trolls) but I was down to at least try to make it happen. I was even reporting accounts of folks who weren’t Black in hopes that their profiles would get deleted. Oops!

I have noticed that the majority of folks on the app seem to be in their 20’s which just isn’t my cup of tea but I love that they’re kind of getting to experience what us older folks experienced building up Twitter. Spill also gives me a Tumblr vibe & the kids definitely need to experience that too.

Now you know wherever Black folks go there’s bound to be memes & jokes. Here are a few of my favorite I saw my first couple of days using the app.

While I don’t plan on even downloading Threads, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where Spill ends up. I mean who knows, it could end up being a new space for cannabis brands to flourish. Sky is really the limit with the app. I spend most of my time over in #StonerSpill anyway.

I have a few codes left so holla at me if you need one & add me if you’ve joined already:
