What’s up y’all? It’s been a while since I’ve written anything but I’m back with my girl Ja’Naye to put y’all on to some popping podcasts for you to check out in 2021. Before we jump into it I just want to shoutout Ja’Naye for turning her dreams into reality. Give her business The Minty Bea a follow on Instagram and Twitter and tell her I sent you. AND if you or a loved one are suffering from hair loss and would like a custom wig she can hook you and your crown up!
Ja’Naye’s Picks
The Read – I’ve been a huge fan of Kid Fury since his blog and youtube days. So when he announced his podcast w/co-host, Crissle, it wasn’t a hard sell. But bias aside, this show is great. It addresses pop culture, mental health, race relations, and relationships in a way that is relatable. You’re guaranteed at least an hour and a half of laughter with these two.
Here’s The Thing – I’ma be honest — I’m late to this train. I was initially lukewarm to KevOnStage, but thanks to a Spotify Podcast suggestion, I’m a HUGE fan of this podcast. In comparison to The Read, this is a MUCH cleaner form of comedic approach. I grew up in the church, so this may be most enjoyable to the kid who spent all Sunday with the PK’s. Either way, the HTT podcast is great and gets all my love.
Today, Explained – I try not to watch the news for obvious reasons, but this short and simple cast addresses events that affect our society in a way that it easy enough to grasp. It leans mostly left in its view, but isn’t radical. For someone who wants to be aware of what happened during the day without driving themselves crazy watching CNN for hours, this is an easy listen on your commute home from work. Added bonus: it makes me seem like I’m actually invested in some topics of current events.
Brit’s Picks
The Sunday Jumpstart Podcast – My good sis Jessica Lauren is telling it like it is and sharing her authentic journey as a solopreneur and businesswoman. Her guest are every day women just like me which makes her content all the more relatable. Plus her and I are BFF’s in my head. But really I know that I can slide in her DM’s anytime I need help with anything and she can as well.
Side Hustle Pro – Nicaila Matthews Okome and her guests such as Myleik Teele and Maya Elious share and reflect upon their paths to success. Make sure you have your pen and pad ready for all the gems that are dropped in each episode. This podcast is definitely the embodiment of #BlackGirlMagic.
Why Won’t You Date Me? – Y’all…let me just say Nicole Byer is a fool! But I think that’s why I love this podcast so much. It’s about dating and all things vanilla and taboo. And I appreciate those who can hold mature and informative conversations regarding sex and sexuality. She’s my bestie in my head too but I haven’t slid in her DM’s yet, ha!
If you have any suggestions for podcast we should check out link them in the comments. Sharing is caring!
