My Best Friends’ Weddings

Have you ever hung out with someone casually not expecting a friendship and sisterhood to grow from it? You know like a random late night trip to Waco or rolling in the grass after Sunday Funday in Austin LOL! Well that’s what happened with me and two of my besties. All of them really started with an adventure. But this blog post is to highlight my special relationships with two wonderful ladies in particular.

You see I have been funemployed several times in my adulthood. My dad did his best to help in any way he could but his two-income household was then a one-income household. In stepped my friends who are ALWAYS willing to help. Two in particular even helped keep a roof over my head and for that I am forever grateful.

These two friends are very near and dear to me. I love the shit out of all my friends, don’t get me wrong. If you’re in my circle you’re here for a reason. But I wasn’t able to share a very special day with them. One a lot of little girls dream about all their lives.

I wasn’t able to be present at either of their weddings. My friend Rema’s wedding was in Jamaica a few years ago. My friend Nancy’s wedding will be this weekend. While I know they know I would be there if I could it still tugs at my heart that I couldn’t/can’t be due to finances and a whole ass pandemic.

And when things are heavy on my mind or heart I write about it so here I am. This is an open letter to Rema and Nancy and to any other friends that I may have missed major milestones in your lives. Sometimes due to just flat out depression. I really appreciate those that have been there for me through it all. Losing a parent isn’t easy. Hell neither is losing a job. But when I make my first million we’ll all take a lavish trip somewhere. Just me and my girls.

Yesterday unbeknownst to me I burned an orange candle. I purchased it yesterday at a local metaphysical shop and quickly forgot it’s meaning but knew I needed to burn it. Here’s it’s core meaning:

The lighting of orange candles is suitable for rituals occurring on the eve of weddings or important business meetings.

I hope that the essence of this orange candle touches you all ESPECIALLY Rema and Nancy. Rema may you kill it in your new role at job. Nancy may your wedding week be some of the best days of your life. I love you both!

XOXO,

Brit
